"Cheap" does not mean bad, it means affordable for the certain family, for certain budget, and expectations. You will agree that one-person trip to the remote vacation spot may cost  four-persons trip of your usual every-year destination. However, if you are really looking for a cheap vacation, below you will find several practical advices regarding where one can save money choosing  a vacation spot.

 First thing is to do all the settlements by yourself. That means avoid considering vacation packages, unless they do not comprise word "cheap".  Travel agencies and tour operators include great percent for their services on getting vizas, booking air tickets, finding hotel and other accommodations. Believe, if you can manage all this by yourself, you will save your money. Here, it would be useful to know the language of the country you want to visit for this summer holiday. You can find in Internet many offers on hotels, write a letter or send a fax and settle on the reservation directly from your  office or home computer.

Good practice is to visit the country where your best friends had a rest last year and were fully satisfied with staying and service. Ask them for all needed coordinates. It will save your money, time, and nerves, because you will preliminary know what to wait for .

It could happen that the cheapest, but the similar comfortable way to get to your planned spot is to take a cruise - by this you will save money for air tickets which is rather sufficient sum for family of 5 members.

 While talking to tour operators try to agree upon discount due to different reasons like you are travelling by a big company of 5 family-members and two friends of your grown-up children, or promise to give advertising of this travel agency to all your office colleges and boss.  Make it known to the tour operator that you would like to have a discount, because this is not obvious.

Consider possibility to take such offers like "Last-minute getaway" or "Buy-it-now".

Certainly, there are many disadvantages of these proposals (you can hardly plan this beforehand), especially, if you are looking for family vacation offers, however, this is the way to save money. There are many people who made this  usual, and if you have free fantasy and are not limited with special wishes, why not to go to travel agency, pay reasonable sum of money, and tomorrow fly to the best vacation spot in a world.
